Subject: Great Yosemite area campground
Comment: We were looking for a place close to Yosemite National Park where we could have full hookups and be close to "civilization", while still having more of a "camping experience" (we hate RV parks that are giant asphalt lots). High Sierra fit the bill perfectly. The park is very nice, with some shaded, some sun sites. The Fresno River runs right through the park, so you even have your choice of "riverside" sites where you can nose into the site and have a view out your windshield of the river. We liked how close the park is to Yosemite... we could easily do day trips into the park. Oakhurst is a good size town, with lots of services, restaurants, shops, and other amenities to choose from, without being too big. All of the staff went out of their way to be friendly and courteous and were very knowledgeable about the area, things to do, etc. We would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone who's looking to experience Yosemite National Park without all the hassles (you don't need to reserve five months in advance to have a shot at a site that will fit anything bigger than a tent!).
